Who we are

Stress Less is provided by 1ManStartup LLC, which acts as the owner and data controller for the app, the stresslessdaily.com website, and the Stress Less newsletter. You can reach us about anything in this policy at contact@stresslessdaily.com. Our mailing address is available on request at that email.

How your data works

Stress Less is a local-first app. In this version there is no account to create and no cloud copy of your data. The stress you log and everything the app builds from it live on your device. The only information that leaves your phone is a limited set of technical and usage data collected by the third-party tools listed further down, which keep the app and website running and help us improve them.

We may later offer optional cloud sync so your data can move between your own devices. That is not part of this version. If we add it, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before any of your stress data leaves your device.

What stays on your device

The following is stored only in the app on your device:

• your stress level entries and their timestamps;
• any activity notes or reasons you record with an entry;
• the optional location attached to an entry, for example New York;
• the AI insights, stats, and de-stress suggestions generated from your entries;
• all custom data added by you, or created for you.

We have no copy of this information, no ability to read it, and no server that receives it. If you delete the app, this data is removed with it. Because there is no account and no cloud backup in this version, we cannot recover it for you.

On-device AI

Stress Less generates insights and suggestions using on-device AI built into your device. All of this processing happens on your device. Your stress entries and the text of your insights are never sent to an external AI service, an external server, or to us. Nothing you log is used to train any AI model.

Location

Location in the app is optional. If you grant location permission, the app uses it only to turn your position into a place name, such as a city, and attach that name to a stress entry so you can see where events happened. That place name is stored on your device with the rest of your entries. You can use the app fully without granting location permission.

Separately, some of the third-party tools listed below may estimate an approximate, city-level location from your device IP address for analytics. That estimate is handled by those providers, is not precise, and is not linked to your stress entries.

Notifications

Notifications are optional. If you allow them, Stress Less can remind you to check in. These reminders are scheduled locally on your device. They are not sent from a server, and setting them up does not collect or transmit any data about you.

Permissions

The app may ask for two optional permissions: notifications and location. Both can be granted or denied, and you can change them at any time in your device settings. Denying them does not stop you from using the core app.

What third parties collect

To run the app and website and understand how they are used, we rely on a small set of third-party services. These collect limited technical and usage data, most of it anonymized, and none of it includes your stress entries. Each provider processes data in the United States and under its own privacy policy.

Firebase Analytics, by Google LLC

Measures how the app is used, such as screen views, session counts, app version, device model, operating system, and an approximate region derived from IP address. This data is tied to an app instance identifier rather than to your name or your stress entries, and it helps us understand usage and improve the app.

Firebase Remote Config, by Google LLC

Delivers configuration and feature settings to the app. It processes basic app and device information so the right configuration can be served to your device.

RevenueCat, by RevenueCat, Inc.

Manages subscriptions and in-app purchases. It receives an anonymized app user identifier, your purchase and subscription history, and device information so it can validate and restore your purchases. It does not receive your stress entries.

Sentry, by Functional Software, Inc.

Crash and error monitoring. When the app runs into an error, Sentry collects diagnostic data such as device model, operating system version, and technical context about the error so we can find and fix bugs.

Google Analytics 4, by Google LLC

Website analytics for stresslessdaily.com only. It collects browser information, an approximate city or region from IP address, and the pages you view, and it uses cookies and similar trackers on the website. It is not active inside the app.

ConvertKit, by ConvertKit LLC

Email newsletter. If you choose to subscribe, ConvertKit stores your email address and any name you provide, and tracks whether you open our emails and click links in them. This applies only if you opt in.

Apple App Store and App Store Connect, by Apple Inc.

Distributes the app and processes purchases. Apple handles the payment and the card details. We receive aggregate sales data and, where you consent, app analytics from Apple. We never receive or store your payment card information.

Payments

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and the card details, so we never receive or store your payment card information. We receive confirmation of a purchase and aggregate sales data, and our subscription tool RevenueCat receives an anonymized identifier and your purchase history so it can validate and restore your purchases.

No selling or sharing

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Stress Less contains no advertising and no advertising or attribution software. The limited data described above is used only to operate, secure, and improve the app, the website, and the newsletter.

Children

Stress Less is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require an account and does not ask for identifying information. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, for example by subscribing to the newsletter, contact us at contact@stresslessdaily.com and we will remove it.

Data retention

Your on-device data stays on your device until you delete an entry or delete the app. For the third-party data described above, each provider retains information for as long as needed to provide its service and as set out in its own policy. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Aggregate and anonymized analytics may be kept for ongoing measurement.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information, and keeping your stress data on your device by design reduces the risk of it being exposed in a breach of our systems. That said, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International users

Stress Less is available worldwide. The third-party providers we use are based in the United States and process data there. If you use the app from outside the United States, the limited technical data those providers collect may be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection rules than your country.

Your rights in the EU and UK

If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, you have rights over your personal data under the GDPR and UK GDPR. To the extent they apply to the limited data described in this policy, you can:

• withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent;
• object to processing that is based on our legitimate interests;
• ask whether we hold data about you and request a copy of it;
• ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
• ask us to delete your data or restrict how it is processed;
• receive your data in a portable format and, where feasible, have it sent to another provider;
• lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Most of your stress data never reaches us, so for that information the practical way to exercise these rights is to edit or delete entries in the app. For newsletter or analytics data, contact us at contact@stresslessdaily.com and we will respond as required by law, normally within one month.

Your rights under US state laws

If you live in a US state with a comprehensive privacy law, including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon, and a growing list of others, you may have rights to access, correct, and delete personal information, to obtain a copy of it, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of in that respect. The limited categories of personal information involved in running the app and website are identifiers such as device identifiers and, if you subscribe, your email; internet and network activity such as app and website usage data; approximate, IP-based location used by analytics; and commercial information such as your purchase history. To exercise any right, contact us at contact@stresslessdaily.com. We will verify your request using the information we have and respond within the time your state law requires.

Your rights in Brazil

If you are in Brazil, the Lei Geral de Proteo de Dados gives you rights over your personal data, including the right to confirm that processing exists, to access your data, to correct incomplete or inaccurate data, to anonymize, block, or delete unnecessary data, to request portability, to delete data processed on the basis of consent, to withdraw consent, and to information about how and with whom your data is shared. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant or the law requires it, give notice in the app or by email. If a change affects processing that is based on your consent, we will ask for your consent again where required.
